Boston Common. Boston, MA.

Do you love movies as much as we do? When it comes to the movie industry, what pops up in your mind? Los Angeles? Maybe New York? You will be surprised to know what an incredible number of world-famous movies were shot in Boston.

Take a look at them if you are planning to come to Boston, to feel the atmosphere of the city. If you already live here, you will see familiar places, where you usually walk your dog or drink coffee.

1. Spotlight.

2015. Drama. Starring Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton.

Let’s start from the Oscar winner of 2015 “Spotlight.” The movie based on the true story ofhow the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation, and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.

2. Social network.

2010. Drama. Biography. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake.

There is no better place to shoot a movie about Facebook than in the place where the most famous social network was born. Did you know that at first it was used just for Harvard students? Definitely check it out to see the stories about one of the most famous men of the 21st century.

Harvard university. Cambridge,MA.

3. Ted 2.

2015. Comedy. Starring Amanda Seyfried, Mark Wahlber, Morgan Freeman.

Dive in to comedy a little. The second part of the story is about a bear named TED, who tries to prove he is a human and has the same rights. The cast and crew have been spotted filming around town in the Boston Public Garden, the South End, and the Financial District.

4. Good Will Hunting.

1997. Drama. Starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams.

One more must-see movie. The story is about a janitor at MIT with a blue-collar background in South Boston who appeared to be a pure math genius. The film is set around South Boston and Harvard Square. Moreover, you will recognize Boston common in one of the scenes (my favorite btw). The movie is a great illustration that it doesn’t matter who you are; if you are talented, you have every chance for your dreams to come true.

5. 21.

2008. Drama. Starring Kevin Spacey, Jeff Ma, Kate Bosword.

Such a coincidence, but most of my favorite movies were shot in Boston! Maybe because I love the academic theme in movies and where, if not in Boston, is the best atmosphere to shoot this.

The 21 Movie is based on a real story about six MIT students who were trained to become experts in card counting and subsequently took Vegas casinos for millions in winnings. I am a biased fan of MIT and people who study there so I am not surprised that a story like that could happen.
